The 9.5.0 release includes many improvements to the WASM integration. In addition to observing VTK objects on the client side, you can also invoke methods on them, which enables client/server calls for picking with client-side objects. The number of VTK objects available in WASM has also grown, helping you reproduce more complex VTK scenes more accurately.

You can now choose the backend to use for rendering your VTK scene. WebGPU is still work in progress but is available for testing via a runtime configuration option.
VTK's WebGPU classes are now serialized and available in the vtkWebAssemblyAsync.{mjs,wasm} files. Subsequent packages will distribute both the vtkWebAssemblyAsync.{mjs,wasm} and vtkWebAssembly.{mjs,wasm} files. The async package will only work in browsers that enable JavaScript Promise Integration (JSPI). See vtk/vtk!12143

Add standalone and remote session API

The vtkWebAssembly.mjs library now provides two new classes, vtkRemoteSession and vtkStandaloneSession.
The remote session API is for use cases where a "server" creates VTK objects and sends the state to a WASM "client" that deserializes the state into objects to mimic the visualization pipeline on the "server". This API does not allow creating objects in the WASM world. It is possible, although very difficult and prone to bugs.
The standalone API is for when you want to create and manipulate objects directly in the local context, in the absence of a server.

Fix vtkFieldData deserialization when no. of arrays is the same but some or all individual arrays have changed

vtkFieldData arrays now update their values on every deserialization, not only when the total number of arrays changes. Previously, the array list was only updated when the array count changed, even though the arrays themselves might be different. See vtk/vtk!12129 for details.

Helper JavaScript library

A new JavaScript library, @kitware/trame-vtklocal, delivers a set of helper tools for VTK.wasm and JavaScript. It includes a standalone viewer for a VTK scene dump, a wrapper for pure JavaScript usage, and core handlers for creating a widget (e.g. React, Svelte, Angular...) for interacting with a trame-vtklocal server implementation.
